We would like to seize this opportunity to thank all of you for your concerns, thoughts and prayers on behalf of the Haitian people.
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti, a great exodus from Port-au-Prince has begun. People have been going back to the countryside where they came from originally. The fallout on their lives will last for many years to come.
Although COFHED focuses on sustainable community development, we understand the urgent needs for food and water, medical care, shelter, and even counseling facing many Haitian families that have been affected. We are ready to serve those needs the best we can. At the same time, COFHED will continue to work with rural communities like Lougou to empower them to design and implement idenfied community projects and programs for long-term sustainability.
If you would like to partner with COFHED as we assist families in Lougou and surrounding villages, please make your donation online by clicking on donate , or you may write a check out to COFHED and mail it this address: COFHED, P.O. BOX 4094, ST PAUL, MN 55104. Please write on your memo line “Haiti earthquake” to make sure the funds are used for the purpose intended.
To get the latest updates on the situation see Nick and Madeleines's Blog. Below are pictures of people fleeing Port-au-Prince on overloaded buses.
Again we appreciate your generosity and your standing with the Haitian people in this time of crisis.
